engaging the abstract

“the arts are the cognitive base for thinking in abstraction” –michael thaut
creativity is our greatest tool for solving problems. but while inspiration is everywhere, thinking outside the box takes practice. sometimes all it takes to start a project is a good playlist. it’s no secret that some of the greatest projects were influenced by music. steve job’s likened the beatles’ creative process to apple’s own, sarah blakely listens to eminem’s “lose yourself” before pitching ideas, and brother + cofounder, alex torrey, raged to foster the people while conceptualizing umano. music may not make us smarter, but it does let us process creativity.
trying to develop an idea of your own? AT (that’s his dj name) has a go-to playlist for engaging the abstract. happy listening.
